Conclusion

What has changed since the first edition, what has not, and how to work the way good analysts always have.

AI tools have made OSINT faster and, in some ways, easier. They have not made it safer. The vendors’ data terms changed under our feet between the first edition of this guide and this one. A court ordered one of them to keep everything its users had deleted. Web pages learned to talk to our tools. Models still invent what they do not know.

None of that is a reason to stop. It is a reason to work the way good analysts always have. Know where your data goes. Check everything. Keep what you control. Write down how you know what you know. Start with OPSEC. Keep sensitive work local or on terms you have read. Use the deep research modes and then verify them. Treat every agent as a new door into your case file. Teach all of this before you teach the tools.

We will keep this guide current as long as people find it useful. If you find something wrong, please tell us.
